Murphy Contracting Co. is currently accepting applications for seasonal Machine Operators. We are currently looking to hire operators for the 2024 season.

Heavy equipment operators are responsible for operating various pieces of heavy equipment in a safe and controlled manner at a variety of construction sites, primarily located in Southwestern Ontario. This job generally involves moving various soils on-site to achieve the designed plan. We will provide successful candidates with training. 

Responsibilities:

• • Operate articulate trucks ranging in size from 30 ton to 50 ton capacity, during an 11 hour shift
  • Operate scrapers including twin engine Cat 627s and twin engine Cat 637s during an 11 hour shift
  • Be willing to operate other heavy equipment such as compactors, if the need arises
  • Work and operate outdoors in all weather conditions including; summer heat and some winter conditions
  • Inspect tires, fluids, lights, brakes, etc., daily to ensure equipment is fully functional and safe for operating
  • Communicate effectively with all other operators and supervisors using communication devices such as two-way radio
  • Perform daily services activities (fuel and grease) on own equipment and help others until servicing is completed after each shift.
  • Adhere to and follow safety and environmental rules and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Previous heavy equipment experience is preferred but not necessary
